Ethics and the Integration of Spirituality into Psychotherapy |
Workshop Title: Ethics and the Integration of Spirituality into Psychotherapy
This workshop will be presented in two parts. First, the general issue of balancing personal and professional ethics in the context of psychotherapy will be discussed. Participants will be invited to participate in reflective exercises that reveal how personal ethics can influence the psychotherapeutic relationship and process. Second, ethical issues specific to the integration of spirituality in psychotherapy will be addressed. As well, ethical guidelines will be presented on how to incorporate spiritual interventions such as prayer and self-disclosure into psychotherapy. Case material that illustrates the ethical issues involved in the integration of spirituality into psychotherapy will be presented for participant discussion .
